The news comes courtesy of Sony itself, with Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy topping not only the US PS4 downloads chart, but also its European counterpart. In the US, Crash managed to beat out such strong opposition as Friday the 13th: The Game, which topped the download charts for June, and the seemingly ever-present Grand Theft Auto 5, with the titles sitting in fourth and sixth in the charts respectively.

Over in Europe, however, this actually marks Crash’s place at the top of the table for the second month in a row. Although Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy only made it to second place in June in the US, failing to beat the aforementioned Friday the 13th: The Game, the trilogy went straight to the top of the charts on the other side of the Atlantic, and has stuck around for another month, seeing off all comers in the process.

So far, the reception to Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy has been tremendous, and that’s not just in terms of sales. The game has also been a huge hit critically, with the Crash Bandicoot trilogy getting excellent reviews and receiving particularly high praise for the care taken in bringing the character of Crash back to the main table of gaming. All in all, then, this release is proving to be a successful one.

That’s not to say that the game hasn’t had some issues surrounding it at launch. In particular, the difficulty of the trilogy has been questioned, with many stating that the levels themselves feel more difficult. In the end, Vicarious Visions did state that Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is harder than the originals, explaining that this is due to “subtle differences” such as a change in the collision system.

Nonetheless, this has been a triumphant return for Crash Bandicoot, and these sales figures will no doubt work well towards further releases, be they more revamped versions of previous games or entirely new content altogether. Here’s hoping that any future releases will be as solid as Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.
